The four seasons in India are cool, usually dry winter, the hot summer, the southwest monsoon and the northeast monsoon. It takes much longer for a monsoon season to pass than it does to arrive. Even though India in prone to floods during the monsoon seasons, there are high risks of droughts for most of the year. Southwest India is one of the hottest places on earth. The southwest summer monsoon lasts for four months.
